The A.E. Studzinski Library along with the Student Leadership and Learning Commons creates a holistic, centered identity of learning partners for the St. John's Prep campus. The activities on the first floor of the Studzinski Library support student life and learning: the Center for Learning and Academic Success, the Office of Student Life, the Office of Teaching and Learning, the Office of Multicultural Affairs and Community Development, the Information Services Department, and the Student Publications Office.
Completed in 2003, the 29,000 square foot library was designed by the Mount Vernon Group. John Studzinski '74, named Distinguished Alumnus of St. John's Prep in 1998, provided funding for the library that his brother Edward and he dedicated to their father Alfred E. Studzinski. London-based magazine The Catholic Herald named John Studzinski "Catholic of the Year" in 2017. Of his many philanthropic ventures, The Catholic Herald writes of Studzinski's financial support of Scottish composer Sir James Campell's arrangement of Stabat Mater and of Studzinski's support of young artists: "The Stabat Mater – premiered to huge acclaim at the Barbican last year – was commissioned by his Genesis Foundation, which has donated £10 million of his own personal money to young artists in every field." Commissioned for Harry Christophers and The Sixteen, the Stabat Mater was dedicated to John Studzinski. Christophers writes of Studzinski's commitment in the digital notes accompanying the album: "Every one of those projects has emanated from John’s devotion to the Catholic faith and his love of the wonderful poetry which encapsulates Christianity as well as his laudable mission to promote and nurture young talent." According to Vatican News on April 22, 2018, The Sistine Chapel hosted the first ever live-streamed concert that featured MacMillan's Stabat Mater. John Studzinski commented on the performance in the Rhinegold Publishing music site: "All of us at the Genesis Foundation have been touched by the way people have reacted so powerfully to the Stabat Mater. To join our long-term collaborators, Harry Christophers and The Sixteen, in bringing this great work to one of the world’s most sacred sites will be an unforgettable experience, and the performance will reaffirm music’s capacity to reinforce the spiritual power of words."
